India and its Chai culture go hand in hand. From youngsters to the old ones, everyone can’t get enough of tea. Some more than others. There may be a hundred varieties and ways to make it but there’s one mutual emotional connection we have to tea that brings us back to it every single day. Here are 10 types of chai lovers that we definitely have seen around us!

If you’ve watched enough Bollywood movies, you’d understand what this is about. This type of chai lovers doesn’t just drink chai because they enjoy it, but they want the whole feel when they’re drinking it. They usually like drinking their tea on rainy, cold days. Wrapped around a blanket preferably next to a window, rain dripping down their windowpane sipping their hot chai and reminiscing both good and bad times.

Shoutout to all the college students! This type is ruled by these youngsters. They usually are seen enjoying this combo when they wanna steam off some frustration from all the college assignments and their attendance issues. These chai lovers are mostly seen in groups of their kind with a forbidden element in their hands, laughing, and crying both at the same time!

The Lactose Intolerant

This group is the most dedicated and risk-taking one! This type of chai lover loves chai more than anything, especially made with milk. But the saddest part is that their body doesn’t let them. They would feel nauseous and even have a round of upset stomach if they have even drink a small cup of it. Although this has never stopped them, they find ways in which they still would consume at least one cup of chai every day. They would combine it with other heavy sides or use other expensive and safer milk substitute just to have a cup of chai to make them feel alive!

This is the “Boomer” tradition. It might have been prevalent for ages, but it never goes out of taste. This is mostly combined with cracker biscuits or our popular “Parle-G”. This might be the most popular, quick, and safe snack to present to your uninvited guests. Dipping your biscuit in hot chai for not more than three seconds, the biscuits soak up the flavor of the tea and become not too soggy and not too hard, just the perfect texture and taste that melts in your mouth.

“I only drink Earl Grey”, is very typical of them to say. This type usually is very specific about their tea, and they wouldn’t take a sip of just any tea. They only would pleasure on the top tea brands and from the exclusive Tea Rooms. These chai lovers are mostly the elites of society because a cup of this exclusive tea costs more than our dinner. These elites know their tea preference, and they would spend it all to have their daily dose of caffeine.

Green tea, Black tea, Herbal tea, Oolong, White tea, Fermented tea, Yellow tea, Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Chamomile, and so on…. They know it all! They are the Einsteins and Gurus of the tea industry. They love Chai; they drink it every day, and they know all about it. They conduct on-site researches and go places just to watch them be manufactured from scratch. Tea date with them ends up being an impromptu class on the history of the Chai you’d be drinking.

This type is mostly today’s generation. The “Iced tea” squad. This generation doesn’t prefer the classic steaming hot chai. True said global warming is, after all, affecting humans. This type loves their chai with ice and some mint on top. There is always a tussle between these chai lovers and the classic “garam chai” lovers.

A desi aunty starter pack can never be complete without them sipping some chai, surrounded by other such desi aunties, gossiping about Sharma Ji’s daughter or Malhotra Ji’s son or the new episode of Pavitra Rishta. They drink their chai more than they blink or breathe. Guests? Chai. Evening? Chai. Gossip? Chai. Any excuse to drink Chai.

It may not be the mainstream chai we drink, but it’s one of the healthiest drinks to binge on. This type of chai drinkers loves their chai not just for the taste and kick of it but for the health benefits it gives out. They mostly combine their chai with honey and some yoga or a gym session.

This type is very obvious, given the title. The addicts! They are addicted to their chai. Whatever chai it may be. Their day doesn’t go right if it doesn’t start with a cup of tea. Their system doesn’t clear without it. They are so addicted to it that they get headaches if they drink anything less than their regular dose of it. This type is highly prone to diabetes. But this doesn’t stop them from their daily consumption. They use substitutes like honey and brown sugar or Sugarfree. They even need to end their day with a cup of tea to give them a good sleep! How ironic!
