1. Grape Seed Oil

Grape seed oil has a very clean flavour and has a very high smoking point which makes it the ideal for stir frying. Other than that it is best used for deep frying, sautéing and searing meat.

2. Sesame Oil


Sesame oil is a cooking oil is made from sesame seeds and is especially used in Asian cuisines. Light sesame oil is a neutral cooking oil and dark sesame oil is used as a flavouring is soups, sauces and other dishes.

3. Avocado Oil


Avocado oil is the healthiest choice as far as oils go.  Avocado oil has a high smoking point and is usually used for healthy dressing and condiments since it is loaded with healthy fats. It is also a great choice for marinating vegetables and meat as it has a mild and clean flavour.

4. Almond oil


Almond oil is a good choice for baking to add a nutty and toasty taste to cookies, cakes, muffins and cinnamon buns. However it is not recommended to use it for high temperature cooking as that will cause the oil to lose its flavour and quality.

5. Coconut oil


Coconut oil is high in healthy saturated fats which helps in fat burning and also provides your body and brain with quick energy. Coconut oil has a tolerance for high temperature cooking and also has one of the longest shelf life. It is mostly used for baking and frying.

6. Olive Oil


Olive oil is a well-known oil among people who seek healthier alternatives for fatty foods. The olive oil that is the most used is the pure olive oil which is a mixed blend of virgin olive oil and refined olive oil. Olive oil has a mild tolerance for high temperature because it has a moderate smoking point. Olive oil is mostly used for frying and seasoning.

7. Peanut Oil


Although peanut oil has a very light and neutral flavour, it can also have a nutty flavour at times. Peanut oil is used for frying, sautéing, and seasoning. Roasted peanut oil has a strong flavour and is usually added after cooking for added flavour.

8. Sunflower Oil


For food preparation refined sunflower oil is highly recommended. Refined sunflower oil can be used for both low as well high temperature cooking. As a frying oil, it is a good replacement and alternative for vegetable oil. Whereas there is the unrefined sunflower oil which is a popular choice for salad dressing in Eastern Europe cuisines.
