With the arrival of Netflix in the country, we have seen the sudden surge in the online content and platforms in India, we are now home to streaming services such as Voot, Hot Star, Prime Video and many more. In the present age online platforms provide us with a plethora of choices due to the availability of subtitles, the entertainment is now much more diverse and we are able to consume content far better than before. Kingdom is a critically acclaimed drama and the first Netflix original that South Korea put forward on the platform with subject matter that widely deviated from their generic romance-driven plots. It not only provided viewers with a refreshing story filled with gore, suspense and thrill but a finely detailed direction appealed to the masses and kept them around for the whole run.
Crash Landing on you (2019)
This new arrival came this year but quickly accumulated high ratings in domestic as well as international markets. It created quite a buzz because of its star-crossed lovers storyline, a romance between a South Korean heiress and a North Korean soldier. It was widely successful in its task of keeping people engaged until the last episode rolled out.
Meteor Garden (2018)
A remake of a popular classic the show was widely popular in Asia and because of the recent craze in the South Asian pop culture, it was received well by western audiences too. The story follows a girl who after a fated encounter with the university’s famous F4 becomes their target and eventually ends up in a love triangle with two members of the group itself. The show is quirky and fun to watch, which makes it ideal for long light-heart binge sessions.
Narcos is a well stitched portrayal of Pablo Escobar a drug lord who managed to create a whole empire from a scratch while also accumulating heaps of wealth by smuggling drugs inside the United State Of America. Wagner Moura although not Spanish is a highlight of the show who terrifically managed to pull off the role of a lifetime and presented audiences with some quality performance that stayed with them long after they were done with the show.
Money Heist (2017 – present)
La Casa De Papel is known for keeping its audiences on the edge of their seats and never-ending eminent twists. It’s an enthralling ride filled with ingenuousness, deceit, and superior action, an exquisitely crafted show that has managed to cultivate a huge international fan base and is mentioned in several must watch lists.
Schitt’s Creek (2015 – present)
Schitt’s Creek amazed their audiences with their brilliant acting, hilarious banter, and a well-crafted script, the combination of all three culminated in the birth of an extraordinary and terrific show.
It follows the life of an extremely-rich family who suddenly goes bankrupt and has to relocate to a small town where all the adventures and drama take place. It’s highly recommended for times when you want a humorous change in the scenery.
